Stik Belgique – Comfy Dress²

Scroll down for english – Over het Stik Belgique had ik het al in mijn vorige blog. Een maand lang de Belgische ontwerpers in de schijwerpers zetten. Aangezien ik het idee zo leuk vond en de blogtours (o.a. Let’s sti(ck) together) van de voorbije maanden zo inspiratievol vond, was het ultieme duwtje in de rug om een blog op te starten…

I told you about the Stik Belgique initiative already in my previous blog. Putting the Belgian pattern designers in the spotlights for an entire month. As I liked the idea that much and the inspiration I got from the blogtours (a.o. Let’s sti(c)k together) in the past months, where the ultimate push to start with my blog…

Nu nog een project kiezen voor de blogtour… Mijn meiden houden van wat zwier in hun rokken/jurken… Toen ik het nieuwe patroontje van Sofie van wensjewat (Fons & Sien) zag, wist ik het meteen. Haar Lena Jurk was het eerste wat ik ‘mijne alleentje’ naaide, dus vond ik het wel passend om deze bijdrage aan haar nieuwe patroon te weiden.

My girls love skirts/dresses with a twirl . When I saw the new pattern from Sofie from Wensjewat ( Fons & Sien), I just knew. Her Lena Dress was the first thing I put together all by myself, so what better Belgian pattern to put in the spotlight.

Voor de Kleine meid gebruikte ik een stofje dat ik al maanden geleden kocht, maar nooit gebruikte omdat ik er geen passende boordstof voor vond. Ik heb meermaals op de kleur van die glitterananassen gefoeterd. Uiteindelijk vond ik tijdens een workshop in de stoffenkamer van Helena eindelijk wat ik zoch – Roestig Oranje met Glitter… Meer heb je niet nodig om een meid van 3 te overtuigen…

For the Little one I used a fabric that I bought months ago, but never used as I could not find any matching rib. I have cursed the colour of those glitter pineapples. In the end, it took a workshop in De Stoffenkamer of Helena to find what I was looking for – a Rusty Orange Rib with Glitter… You don’t need more to convice a girl of three…

 

Ik had voor de veiligheid wat extra centimeters toegevoegd aan het patroon omdat de Lena wat kort uitviel. Eigenlijk werd het na een maand al een Tshirt in plaats van een jurk, maar deze valt echt goed van lengte en had niets extra nodig. Ideaal dus!

I added an extra inch to the seem as a safety measure because the Lena pattern was on the short side. Actually after a month it was more a T-shirt (every inch as lovely) than a dress. The Sien dress however is perfect in lenght. Winner!

Eentje is geentje… Zeker als je houdt van peis en vree in huis. Mijn dochters, zoals zoveel, vinden de creatie voor de ander altijd mooier en willen er net zo één. iets van het gras is altijd groener… Dus werd er ook ééntje voor de oudste dochter genaaid. Aangezien zij al maat 122 draagt, valt ze eigenlijk buiten de maten van het patroon. Ik tekende een cm extra aan het lijfje en voegde enkele cm’s onderaan toe. Als stofje koos ik de eekhoorns van See you at six (niet echt origineel, maar oh zo zacht en leuk). Ik had de bijhorende boordstof ook gekocht, maar besloot uiteindelijk om groen/goud boordstof te gebruiken van Veritas. Om het toch iets anders te laten zijn…

One is just nog enough… Especially if you appreciate your peace and quiet. My daughts, as probably many others, generally love the outfit made for the other more than their own and want a similar one. Something along the lines of ‘the grass is always greener…’ So I also sew one for my eldest, although she wear size 122 which is outside of the pattern’s regular sizes. I just added a cm to the bodice and a few to the skirt (just to be sure) and it fits like a glove. I chose the squirrels from see you at six (not very original, but oh so soft and fun). Although I bought the matching rib, in the end I opted for a green/gold rib. Just to be a touch different from the rest.

De jurken werden meteen goedgekeurd en ziet amper de binnenkant van hun kast. Er was dus amper tijd om mooie foto’s te nemen van de tweede jurk. Geen mooie foto’s maar de dochter had er plezier in (toch voor een minuutje of 3..)

The dresses were an instant hit and have bearly seen the inside of their closet. That also meant we barely had time to take pictures of the second dress. No pretty pictures but the kid had fun (for about 3 minutes – better luck next time).
